Rev Ann said a prayer at the start of the walk asking God to be with us and for the work of the Leprosy Mission. Nine of us set off from Church, Rev Ann, Chris T, Eilleen, Margaret (Darlington), Les, Dave (Mosley), Ken and Heather and myself.
We met Clive, Patsy and her friend Denise at the Bogs Lane bridge. We enjoyed
the walk along the Greenway path to Ripley taking in the views, especially off the viaduct.
There were a lot of cyclists about but we managed to keep out of each others way!
Eileen, Margaret, Dave and Ken left us at Ripley, going home on the bus after going to the café. The rest of us had a break in Ripley having either a drink or an ice cream before we continued on our way to Hampsthwaite.
We walked through Ripley woods and saw the deer in the castle grounds. The bluebells were still lovely even though they had been out for a few weeks. We were really pleased we had not missed them!
We walked out of the woods and up to Clint Bank and over the road where we walked down the field into Hampsthwaite. We paused at the Church to see the two
Thompson mice on the lychgate. Pauline met us at that point and we went back to her home where she and Frank very kindly made us tea and coffee accompanied by cake and some lovely freshly made scones.
It was the perfect end to a lovely afternoon. Everyone enjoyed themselves but I think one or two had walked far enough!
It was good to have this time together and raising money for the Leprosy Mission. A total of £341 was raised.
Thank you all so much for your generosity. The Leprosy Mission do such good work. Thank you once again to Chris Thomas for doing the sponsor forms and being the
official photographer!
Thank you once again for your support
